September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day. I have some of my own thoughts to share on this subject….We are all precious in the eyes of whom has made us!
Why do we kill ourselves or attempt to kill ourselves? What is the underlying factor to our own self-loathing? We are all born beautiful and unique. What happens in the world that changes our very perspective of our self? The world is so ugly it doesn’t like imperfections. It seemingly has no forgiveness. It feigns grace in the face of indifference.
In light of that, what can we do to prevent individuals from taking their gift of grace from us? How can we be better support values for individuals struggling? If we open our hearts and our minds to appreciate the complexities of each other and stop trying to shove square pegs into round holes then we all win.
Everyone has a voice. Everyone can display what grace has given them. Again, we all win! Open your eyes and the mind will follow. Do not be deceived by the great deceiver. It will try to fool you every time. Be part of the world. Be part of the greater gift of life than believing in lame stereotypes and hard and fast rules. Be the “person in the mirror” and make a change. We love you, we need you, get help, and above all, don’t do it. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and you need to look toward it and see the reaching hand there for you as you arrive.
Please, CALL before you act.
